Indifference or revulsion
I take a look along the aisle
The seat you usually occupy
Finding it empty was heart wrenching
Finding it occupied isn't pacifying either
I could tolerate a repulsive look
I fear the cold of indifference rather
Inquisitive eyes were an attraction
Inquiring looks were a charm
Ignoring gestures and no affection
Losing interest does great harm
From indifference to ignorance
From revulsion to outright denial
I was happy to be non existent
But your rejections turn me down
You were not worth the time
You were not worth the effort
I have important stuff to cater
Leaving apart your inflictions and hurt
The poem as the title and content must have made clear is written after all those encounters of helpless moments post witnessing an indifferent look upon sb whom you have known closely but from a distance . This indifference is something that is very exhausting as the other entity is absolutely detached emotionally. The ones who have been through such moments would acknowledge in a jiffy , what toll it takes upon the mental balances . Hate , in my opinion would be far better alternative as at least the "assumed" significant other would atleast have some ponderings , some emotions .....but such a stage of indifference that makes the person almost non-existent is what I criticise through the means of the poem
